Software Shop
The function of the Software Shop is to provide a broad range of services related to the computing environment. The support focus is on the Microsoft Windows and Macintosh platforms, but others will be considered. These services can be categorized into three areas, as presented below.
Application Program Design and Development
Although
the current commercial applications available are quite powerful and beneficial,
not all computing needs can be met with them. These needs may be fulfilled
by a specialized program, either of a scientific or general purpose nature.
Support for many other
programming languages.
Software Recommendation, Installation & Troubleshooting
Most popular commercial software applications have an easy installation procedure, yet problems may occur still during the process or later during program operation. Resolving such problems require knowledge in both the hardware and software aspects of a computer system, and extensive experience with a variety of software applications.
Hardware
Recommendation, Installation & Troubleshooting
A
computer system is always a candidate for hardware upgrades and also, unfortunately,
for repair. Support in this area can be provided by the shop due to its
experience in a variety of hardware components, which include hard drives,
floppy drives, memory chips, graphics cards and Ethernet cards. Even in
this area, a knowledge of both the hardware and software aspects of a computer
system is vital.
